Why does calcium build up in your fingernails, causing those little white spots?

One day while at a school camping trip, we were all observing our nails. We all had gotten the white spots and starting talking about them, sharing our theories. When it came my turn I told them what my Mother told me, that they show up when you lie.

Our group leader then burst out laughing at our explanations, all of them.

';No,'; she said ';they're bruises.';

And suddenly the mystique was gone. :'(

Really though, they're little bruises, hence why people who are active/do a lot of sports/have jobs in labor tend to get them much for often.Why does calcium build up in your fingernails, causing those little white spots?
It means you have a zinc deficiency.

You can get it from nuts and fish
