What are those white spots on your fingernails?

I've always heard it meant you don't have enough calcium in your diet. What are those white spots on your fingernails?
It means you are short in calcium. Get yourself some calcium tablets and also ensure that you take a glass of milk per day, eat sardines also and it will clear in about 2 weeks. What are those white spots on your fingernails?
The spots you notice are not caused by a calcium deficiency. They're called ';leukonychia'; and are very common. Most of the time the white spots simply are a sign of some past injury . By the time the white spot shows up (about six weeks after the injury) you've probably forgotten all about banging or knocking your fingers
If you are talking about the half moon shaped white areas on your nails they are called lunula and marks the area of the nail plate from which your nails 'grow out'.
they are calcium deposits
